HEATHER J. BARBIERI
Attorney at Law, Board Certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization

As a criminal defense attorney, my mission is simple: to relentlessly and passionately pursue justice and freedom for my clients in all criminal defense proceedings. Fighting for my clients is not a job - it's a calling that I take extremely seriously. I believe that the liberty of each person I represent is the most important right I can defend. Whether my clients have been charged with misdemeanors, such as possession of marijuana or DWI, felonies, such as murder, assault, burglary, or even federal crimes such as fraud or embezzlement, I believe it is my duty to do what is necessary to defend their rights.

If you consider hiring me - or any criminal defense attorney - it is important that your attorney avoids the path of least resistance. I will only plea your criminal case if it is truly in your best interest. In most instances, especially in Collin, Denton and Dallas Counties criminal defense cases, the plea offers from the district attorneys are typically not very favorable for the defense. However, I have built my criminal defense practice and my law firm on sound principals of honesty and integrity and will always work on behalf of my clients' best interest.

Another strong consideration when hiring a criminal defense attorney is the amount of trial and court room experience the lawyer has. In my years of criminal defense practice, I have accumulated over 70 not-guilty verdicts and outright dismissals for my clients. My success comes from extensive trial and court room experience. When your liberty is on the line, you need to be certain that your criminal defense lawyer has the ability to navigate the trial proceedings in your favor. This includes all pre- trial motions and proceedings, as well as a strategic plan for selecting criminal trial juries. It is important for my prospective clients to know how experienced I am and the amount of success I have had for so many clients that I have assisted in previous criminal defense matters.

As you make your way throughout the criminal defense lawyer selection process, be sure to ask each attorney how many criminal defense trials they have received not-guilty verdicts and how much criminal court room experience they have. Your liberty is at stake - it is important to select a criminal defense attorney that will stand beside you in battle.

I am very aggressive and not afraid to stand up and fight for my clients in all criminal defense matters. I only encourage a plea if it is truly the best course of action under which to proceed. I have an established success record of over 70 Not Guilty verdicts or outright dismissals that is built on hard work, honesty, trust, and integrity. I have earned tremendous respect from other criminal defense lawyers, district attorneys, judges and law enforcement officials.

I have a keen understanding that most successful criminal defenses begin well before the trial starts. My strategic approach includes assisting my clients from the initial arrest, detention, and bail reduction matters, all the way through to possible appeals.

Unlike many other criminal defense attorneys, I do not limit my criminal defense practice to just trial preparation. I have extensive criminal defense experience by fighting for clients throughout the appeals process, including: appeals and writs of habeas corpus. Texas is a very challenging state for handling criminal defense appeals and writs of habeas corpus, and it is important to know that your criminal defense lawyer will fight for the client throughout the appeals process.

I have extensive experience and have successfully defended clients in the following criminal defenses:

  • Virtually all Misdemeanor and Felony Criminal Defense charges
  • Drunk Driving and DUI Defense
  • Appeals
