The following are some case summaries that show what Heather's passion and determination can accomplish:
A woman's scorned ex-husband manipulated the system, having her charged with criminal Felony Interference with Child Custody, a third degree felony offense. Heather's diligent research and skill made the way for her argument to the court through a claim of double jeopardy. Because her client, in her earlier divorce proceeding, was officially held "in contempt," (with no jail time or fine), Heather was able to get her entire felony dismissed through a Writ of Habeas Corpus via Double Jeopardy. Her client was overjoyed.
A mother who turned her son in for drug use turned the tables on her. In retaliation, he claimed his mother was a drug dealer, and forced him to deal for her. Fortunately, through proper investigation, and trial preparation, Heather was able to show the twelve jurors the truth. Her client's felony drug dealing case ended in a resounding "Not Guilty."
A husband and father of two was headed home, when he was pulled over for speeding. A routine traffic stop, led to an arrest for Reckless Driving, when officers thought he was "mouthing off" to them. After a series of preparation tactics, including police officer depositions, it was obvious to the jury that the charges were manufactured by the police. This "not guilty" verdict was a true moral victory.
When a school Superintendent alleged a school bus driver's husband attacked him in front of several witnesses after firing his wife, the case seemed strongly stacked against the husband. However, it became clear that the Superintendent was not completely truthful, and the jury believed the Superintendent was simply a bully, who retaliated against this poor man. The jury saw through the deception, and found the husband "Not Guilty" of Felony Assault on a Public Servant.
A true gentleman had a dear friend who was being beaten by her live-in boyfriend. When he went to help her pack her things to move-out, he armed himself with two guns. The unarmed boyfriend became violently angry, and lunged for the gentleman. Our client shot the boyfriend two times, and he died. Our client was found "Not Guilty" of Murder. Self-defense, and chivalry, was the winning defense.
A college student client was charged with possession of marijuana. The State introduced over thirty pieces of evidence, ranging from bongs to a photo of the student taking a picture of himself smoking what appeared to be a "roach." Despite the overwhelming evidence, the impassioned arguments made by Heather resulted in a "Not Guilty" verdict. The client was very thankful.
A mother was at wits end with her teenage daughter who was out until the wee hours of the morning. As a last resort, she hit her with a garden hose and was charged with abuse ? a criminal defense. After discussions with the prosecutor, the case was dismissed.
The mother of a shop-lifting teen was accused of essentially aiding and abetting the theft. After a strong argument on the mother's behalf, the case was dismissed.
A man fell head over heels for a woman. After using him for everything he had, she abruptly broke off the relationship. When he went to talk with her, she called police, alleging he broke in and physically attacked her. The jury found the man "Not Guilty" of the felony charges.
A young lady was arrested for outstanding warrants. While at the police station, police officers discovered marijuana in her wallet. The jury found her "Not Guilty" of possession of marijuana.
A college student was pulled over, and officers discovered what they believed was an illegal club. After a jury trial, he was found "Not Guilty." He is currently training to become a police officer himself.
A young man was driving his pick-up truck, which contained an open bottle of Everclear, and some marijuana in his glove compartment. After a winning the Motion to Suppress, the State dismissed all charges.
A construction worker was charged with felony driving while intoxicated (DWI 3rd). The jury, knowing about the prior convictions, still acquitted him of the third, felony charge. The family was very grateful.
That is just a glimpse at some of Heather's victories. And although there are bound to be losses, even in those instances, there was oftentimes very little punishment, and a much better result than the so-called "plea bargain."
